It all starts with the drums.
From tuning, to mic placement, and solid performances, the best place to start to get a heavy and natural sounding recording is to do everything you can to lay the foundation with killer drum tracks.
As a session drummer, I can help you with:
- Drum recording sessions
- Drum parts and guidance
- Drum editing and programming
Capturing your music right at the source is crucial when you want to have your sound recorded in a way that will stand the test of time and continue to make people bang their heads over the years.
I have access to a number of top shelf recording studios in Sydney, and a portable recording rig so I can can help with:
- Recording drums

- Recording bands
Bringing it all together into something that truly represents your sound is where mixing comes in.
I can take recordings we've done together, or raw tracks you've recorded yourself or at a studio, and mix them to bring out the true essence of your songs.
Here's a few ways I can help:
- Remote audio mixing
- Audio editing
- Re-amping guitars and bass

“Adrian did an amazing job writing drums for our song. The style and sound of the drums matched the genre perfectly. Very easy to work with and the turn around was very fast. We will definitely be using Adrian for future drum work. Thanks man!”
You have a tonne of options when it comes to recording and mixing heavy music, and not all of them are equal.
The problem is finding someone who ‘gets’ heavy music and is coming from the same place, especially as there are so many different styles of heavy music.
If your music is heavy and natural, from sludge metal to thrash, the drums destroy, the riffs are relentless, the bass is grinding, the vocals rip over the top, and there’s a healthy amount of dynamics to keep things interesting, I’m 100% onboard.
My number one goal is to help you bring your ideas and hard work together so that heavy music fans will be blown away by your recorded music in the same way they are when you play live and feel the same energy.
I’m Adrian Griffin and my specialty is heavy music, predominantly genres where the focus is on capturing as much of the live sound as possible using organic sounds and human performances.
I’ve been playing in bands since the 90s and have toured extensively all over Australia, Europe and Japan, playing everything from tiny floor shows, to massive outdoor festivals and everything in between.
I’ve also been heavily involved in all areas of music with many different bands and artists from songwriting to audio production, recording and mixing, to music video production, music promotion, record labels and more.
I play drums for Lo! and Burial Pit and you can find me on Instagram @acedrum, Facebook , and the Recording Drums Facebook Group using the links at the bottom of this page.
